Purple Thai Seeds – Strain History
Purple Thai is an old-school 80/20 sativa dominant strain descended from Chocolate Thai and Oaxacan Gold. Many older smokers probably remember these two names as they were the most popular varieties of cannabis for quite a while.
Chocolate Thai started circulating in the United States during the 1960s when soldiers stationed in Southeast Asia began bringing ‘Thai sticks’ back home to the US. Highland Oaxacan Gold is a 100% sativa strain bred from Mexican and Columbian genetics.
Even though Thai Sticks have long been replaced, Purple Thai continues to offer a glimpse into the past for those cannabis users looking to experience a classic psychedelic superstrain rich with history.
Purple Thai Appearance
Purple Thai has fluffy foxtail and popcorn-shaped nugs. The flowers are light green with dark purple and grey undertones. Her trichomes are small but many and have a stainless steel reflective glow. Purple Thai has minimal leaf coverage and nice hollow stems. A true beauty to behold.
Aroma
Purple Thai has a very unique, spicy, musky, and floral smell. Grinding or squeezing the buds exposes a range of aromas from chocolate and coffee to sour grapes. PT smoke is tremendously smooth and tastes like vanilla, exotic spices, and sandalwood. If you are looking to expand the range of flavors coming out of your garden, specifically to include some classic landrace style flavors, Purple Thai is a solid pick.
